AUSTIN MUST SEE TOUR - 21K

Runner on the ground - MICHAELA

Experience the best of Austin on foot with our 21 km (13.1 mile) Must-See Running Tour, designed for runners who want to explore the Texas capital’s vibrant music culture, historic landmarks, and unforgettable scenery. This tour is all about what makes Austin Austin: its art, music, history, and “Keep Austin Weird” charm.

We will begin on historic Congress Avenue, where we’ll take in the local mural art before running across the Congress Avenue Bridge, famous for its nightly bat flights, when nearly 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats take to the sky at dusk— a uniquely Austin experience! From there, we’ll head to South Congress for an iconic photo at the I Love You So Much mural. Scribbled in lipstick on the side of Jo’s Coffee, this spontaneous love note has become one of Austin’s most recognized and photographed spots. It’s heartfelt, iconic, and a perfect selfie stop!

Next, we will cruise to the Greetings from Austin mural, a retro postcard painted on the side of a neighborhood shop — a can’t-miss photo op. From there, we will make our way toward the scenic Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail, where we’ll see the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue that honors the blues legend who helped shape Austin’s musical identity.

After taking in striking views of downtown and the Capitol from the trail, we’ll arrive at the Moody Theater, the current home of the longest-running music television show in history, Austin City Limits. We’ll snap a picture with the statue honoring one of Austin’s most beloved musical sons, Willie Nelson.

Next, we’ll head up Congress Avenue to the majestic Texas State Capitol, a must-see architectural and historical landmark. Fun fact: it’s actually taller than the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., standing proud as the largest state capitol building in the country!

Continuing down the Capitol Mall, we’ll enter the University of Texas campus to visit the iconic UT Tower and pass the UT Football Stadium, soaking in the city’s collegiate pride. The final stretch takes us to East Austin to visit the playful You’re My Butter Half mural and take in the history of the East Side, before rejoining the Hike-and-Bike Trail for a scenic finish.

If you’re eager to dive into Austin’s unique spirit, this half-marathon-length run is the ultimate active adventure!
