Discover the Modern Art and Sports venue of Rome’s Flaminio District!

During our run, we’ll immerse ourselves in 100 years of Italian and Roman history, from the sport of the 1930s and 1960s to the iconic landmarks like Viale dei Gladiatori, the Stadio dei Marmi, the Stadio Olimpico, and the Palazzetto dello Sport. We’ll also marvel at the modern architectural wonders of the Ponte della Musica (Davood Liaghat), the Maxi Museum (Zaha Hadid), and the Auditorium Parco della Musica (Renzo Piano), all perfectly intertwined in the Flaminio district.

Our 10 km tour is not just a run; it’s a breathtaking scenic journey through the northern part of the centre, right next to the river. It’s a perfect fusion of physical activity and natural beauty, promising a truly inspiring experience.

We will start from the beautiful Piazza del Popolo, or alternatively from your hotel, and for the first two kilometers, we will run alongside the river.

In the 1950s, the architect Nervi significantly changed the appearance of Rome and Italy after the war. Some of Nervi’s notable works that we can still see today include the Fiumicino airport and the Termini Station, we are going to pass in front at the Flaminio stadium and the Palazzetto dello Sport.

The first stop will be in front of the Auditorium Parco della Musica, designed by Renzo Piano, where we can refill the water. We will set off again in the direction of Ponte Milvio, passing through the Olympic Village built for the 1960 Olympics and arriving at Ponte Milvio, the North gateway to Rome since 200 BC.

Early in the morning it’s very quiet, but I suggest passing through the neighbourhood during the evening for a cocktail! Around the area, you will definitely find a great spot to relax.

Our race will continue until we reach the Foro Italico complex; we will do a lap of the track (if possible) inside the Stadio dei Marmi and around the Stadio Olimpico. We will then make a quick stop on Viale dei Gladiatori to take some photos and refresh ourselves.

The next spot on our route will be the Ponte della Musica by Davood Liaghat. Built just 10 years ago, it has greatly transformed the neighbourhood by connecting sports with the arts.

Our last stop will be the MAxxi Museum, a museum of modern art built by Zaha Hadid. It is a pearl of modernity embedded in the history of the Flaminio neighbourhood.

On the way home, we can always add some kilometres if we want to pass trough Villa Borghese and have a look the city from the famous “Pincio’s Terrace”.

This is a totally unique, uncommon and non-classic itinerary of Rome. Compared to the millenary life of the city we will see one of the most modern and changing areas, without even tackling one of the famous Roman hills.
