GLANCING THROUGH MUGHAL ERA TOMBS DELHI – 12K

Delhi has the distinction of showcasing modern perspectives with historical blending. New Delhi region is planned part of the city, with historical monuments spread across the region providing window to the rich heritage. Wider roads and public parks are distinctive features of this area.

Route Highlights

Starting from Safdarjung tomb, we head towards Najaf Khan tomb and Lodi Art district. Safdarjung Tomb is an 18^th Century tomb housing a sandstone and marble mausoleum of Nawab Safdarjung, along with a garden divided in four parts. Built in 1754 it is considered is the last garden tomb of Mughal era. From here we head towards the nearby Najaf Khan tomb. Constructed by Fatima, the daughter of Najaf Khan, this tomb remained in unfinished state, due to financial constraints.

Then we come across some wall painting, by renowned artists in the Lodi Art District, a colony of government employees. From here we head towards Humayun’s tomb via Nehru Stadium, housing a sports complex.

Taking a U-turn from Sunder Nursery, yet another maintained garden with Mughal era monuments inside, we head towards Golf Course Road and Khan market on our way back to the start point.
