Glenealy & HK Zoological and Botanical Gardens.
Our journey begins at Glenealy – one of the few streets in HK without a street/road suffix in its name. It is imperative to conduct a quick warm up routine to prepare our legs for the upcoming stretches of paved incline. Afterwards, we will make our way up to the mid-levels and pass through the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. If we’re lucky, we can catch a glimpse of the various animal species residing within the garden such as gibbons, and orangutans.

Hike up to The Peak via Old Peak Road.

This section will challenge your stamina and determination (~450 – 500m of elevation gain). The route features a mix of uphill climbs and gentle descents, perfect for runners looking to get their hill sprint training in. The natural beauty surrounding you will keep your spirits high, even as you conquer those steep sections. With every step, feel the invigorating energy of the outdoors as you breathe in the fresh, crisp air. Upon reaching The Peak Galleria, it’ll be great opportunity to take a break; hydrate and take in the beautiful scenery of the Victoria Harbour.

Peel’s Rise descent to Aberdeen Country Park catchwater.

Time to reap the rewards of your hard work! This section features a gentle and winding descent via Peel’s Rise which directly connects to the catchwater leading to the Upper Aberdeen Reservoir. Marvel at the sight of this man-made creation and the connecting bridge is a picturesque spot.

Bowen Road Trail – A jogger’s paradise

With approximately 4 km of flat pavement lined with lush greenery providing shelter from the heat, this section allows you to enjoy stunning views of the tall commercial and residential buildings within the vicinity. This trail is also home to the famous “Lover’s Rock”. Did you know that local lore states that the worshippers’ sincere wishes will come true if they hang a wine bottle on a tree near the Rock?
