LAKES & MANSIONS RUN - ORLANDO - 10K

Runner on the ground - FABIO
Alright, let’s hit the ground running for a delightful guided tour through the captivating sights of Winter Park! This 10K journey will now begin near the world-renowned Morse Museum, home to the stunning works of Louis Comfort Tiffany. While we won’t step inside during our run, take a moment to appreciate the museum’s exterior and perhaps make a mental note to explore its artistic treasures later.
From the Morse, we’ll jog towards the elegant Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum. This beautifully restored Spanish farmhouse offers a charming glimpse into the region’s architectural past. We’ll pause briefly to admire its graceful design and the surrounding gardens, picturing life in Winter Park during its earlier days.
Our path will then lead us towards the enchanting network of the Winter Park Canals. As we run alongside these picturesque waterways, you’ll understand why this city is often called the “Venice of Central Florida.” Keep an eye out for the leisurely boat tours, offering a different perspective of the scenic beauty. The reflections of the lush surroundings on the water create a truly unique running experience.
Next, we’ll make our way to the verdant expanse of Kraft Azalea Park. This 13-acre oasis is not only a haven of natural beauty, especially when the azaleas are in bloom, but it’s also where the Rollins College Crew team often trains. We might even catch a glimpse of them gliding across the water as we enjoy a refreshing loop through the park’s shaded pathways and scenic lakefront.
Continuing our run, we’ll make our way towards the historic Alabama Hotel. This iconic landmark, with its classic architecture, stands as a testament to Winter Park’s enduring appeal. As we pass by, envision the generations of visitors who have enjoyed its hospitality and the vibrant history held within its walls.
Next, we’ll head towards the picturesque Isle of Sicily. While our feet will remain on the mainland, we’ll pause along the shoreline, offering stunning views of this verdant island nestled in the shimmering lake. Imagine the tranquility and beauty that this natural gem provides.
Our journey will then take us towards the stately Eastbank House. The oldest home in Winter Park. Showing the timeless elegance of Winter Park’s early days. As we jog past, take in the architectural details and the sense of history that permeates this charming neighborhood.
Finally, our invigorating run will culminate on the vibrant Park Avenue. This bustling thoroughfare, lined with chic boutiques, art galleries, and inviting cafes, offers a perfect spot to cool down, grab a refreshing drink, and soak in the sophisticated atmosphere of Winter Park.
Throughout our run, I’ll share interesting facts and stories about each location, enriching your experience beyond the physical activity. This tour is designed to be a comfortable and enjoyable pace for all fitness levels, allowing you to fully appreciate the unique charm and beauty of Winter Park. Let’s enjoy the sights and sounds as we make our way through this elegant city!
