LAS VEGAS STRIDING THE STRIP – 5K

Las Vegas Boulevard, better known as the Strip, becomes crowded during the day and especially at night, but early in the morning it is peaceful and spacious.  It’s an ideal time to go for a run and greet the new day as the city wakes up and shakes off the previous night’s excesses!  For tourists, business travellers and conference attendees, it’s a perfect time to get in a run and explore.  If we’re lucky, we may be treated to a spectacular sunrise, as the sun pokes its head above the surrounding mountains, with reds, yellows, oranges and purples lighting up the sky.

This is an out-and-back tour, starting and finishing at your hotel (or other convenient location that we will agree).  You’ll be back in good time to freshen up, have breakfast and carry on with your day.

The 5km distance will allow us to see many of the Strip’s iconic sights – the start-point will determine which ones we can cover within the 5km distance, but you will certainly receive a good introduction to the lay-out of the Strip and have plenty of photo opportunities.  There are world-famous hotels such as Caesar’s Palace, the Flamingo, the Mirage.  We’ll say ‘Good morning!’ to the Statue of Liberty at New York New York, to the giant golden lion at MGM, to the Sphinx at Luxor, to Caesar as he hails us outside his Palace.  The ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign is also a MUST photo opportunity.

During the tour we will talk about some of Las Vegas’ history and some of the characters who lie behind what we see today.  Befitting the self-styled Entertainment Capital of the World, there’s a story to tell!

The run is essentially flat and on sidewalks.  There is an occasional elevated section for us to cross major junctions safely…so there will be a few stairs to work those hammies and quads a little extra!  There will be plenty of opportunities to stop and grab some photos.

By the end of the tour you should have a better feel for the Strip, including places and recommendations that you might want to revisit later in the day.  Above all, you should have a better idea why this little stretch of road attracts so much attention from all around the world!
