Runner on the ground - JON AND FABIO

We’ll begin our run near the historic campus of Rollins College, the second oldest college in Florida. As we jog along the incredible hard-packed path that hugs the pristine shores of Lake Virginia, you’ll be captivated by the original Spanish Mission style buildings. Imagine the generations of scholars who have strolled these grounds. If we’re lucky enough to be running at sunrise, prepare for a truly breathtaking spectacle as the golden light dances across the tranquil waters of the lake. Keep an eye out for the Rollins College boathouse and perhaps even some students enjoying the picturesque setting.

Continuing along the scenic path that traces the shoreline of Lake Virginia, our next stop will be Dinky Dock Park. This charming lakeside park offers beautiful views and a glimpse into the recreational heart of Winter Park. We’ll take a brief pause here to appreciate the serene atmosphere and perhaps spot some local waterfowl enjoying the lake. It’s a perfect spot to catch your breath and soak in the natural beauty.

From Dinky Dock, we’ll make our way towards the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens. While we won’t be venturing inside during our run, we’ll pass by this cultural gem, offering a glimpse of its artistic significance. The lush gardens surrounding the museum provide a tranquil backdrop, hinting at the beautiful sculptures and artwork housed within.

Our journey will then lead us to the stunning Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum. This beautifully preserved Spanish farmhouse offers a step back in time, showcasing the architectural heritage of the region. We’ll pause briefly to admire its elegant design and the surrounding grounds, picturing life in Winter Park during its earlier years. The charming details and the stories held within its walls are sure to captivate your imagination.

Finally, our invigorating 5k run will culminate on the lively Park Avenue. This iconic street, with its quaint shops, inviting coffee houses, and delectable restaurants, offers the perfect setting to celebrate the completion of our run. You can browse the unique boutiques, grab a refreshing beverage, or simply enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of this charming thoroughfare.

Throughout our guided run, I’ll share interesting tidbits about the history and significance of each location, enhancing your experience beyond just a physical activity. This 5k route is designed to be enjoyable for all fitness levels, allowing you to fully appreciate the unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty that makes Winter Park so special. So, let’s enjoy the run and the discoveries that await us on this picturesque journey!
