Your immersive adventure begins and culminates at the iconic Lake Eola Park, a shimmering oasis in downtown Orlando. As you set off, you’ll first embrace the picturesque 0.8 km loop around Lake Eola, taking in the serene waters, the iconic fountain, and the burgeoning city skyline.
From Lake Eola, the route gracefully transitions, guiding you north through the city’s charming neighborhoods. You’ll pass by notable landmarks such as Lake Highland Preparatory School, a well-known educational institution, as you transition from the bustling city center into more tranquil, tree-lined avenues. Continuing your northbound path, you’ll cross a scenic lake bridge offering picturesque views, located near the Mennello Museum of American Art. This cultural gem, nestled by the water, adds an artistic touch to your journey before you delve into nature. The tour then leads you into the serene embrace of Mead Gardens, a beautiful botanical sanctuary where lush greenery and peaceful pathways provide a refreshing natural interlude.
Continuing your exploration, the path unwinds towards Winter Park, a city celebrated for its refined atmosphere and natural allure. As you enter this charming city, you’ll run through the College Quarter Historic District, a significant and architecturally diverse neighborhood first subdivided for residential development around 1920. This unique area, growing to be one of the city’s oldest, offers a glimpse into Winter Park’s rich history and architectural heritage. From there, you will traverse the historic Rollins College campus, marveling at its striking Mediterranean-inspired architecture and the serene environment around the Athletic Field. A definitive highlight of the Winter Park segment is a run along the famous Park Avenue, a charming street brimming with chic boutiques, captivating art galleries, and inviting cafes—a perfect blend of culture and leisure. As you pass by, you’ll also get a view of the Rollins Boat Area, situated on the shores of Lake Virginia. This prominent facility, home to the Harold Alfond Boathouse, serves both recreational and athletic purposes for Rollins College, offering a glimpse into their vibrant water activities.
The tour then gracefully loops back towards Orlando, unveiling new perspectives on its hidden gems.
