RUN THROUGH ROME'S FUTURE: THE EUR EXPERIENCE - 6K
Runner on the ground - ETTORE
Get ready to discover a fascinating and modern side of Rome with our 6 km EUR Running Tour, a journey through one of the city’s most unique neighborhoods where modernist architecture meets greenery and rich history. You might think EUR is all about sleek lines and modern vibes, but there’s so much more to discover—hidden stories, iconic landmarks, and even a touch of cinematic magic.
Originally planned for the 1942 World’s Fair (which never happened due to World War II), EUR evolved into a symbol of Italy’s post-war revival and ambitious vision. The neighborhood became a showcase of rationalist architecture, urban design and cinematic flair added when it starred in films like La Dolce Vita.
Our run kicks off at the Palazzo dei Congressi, an impressive example of rationalist architecture. This building has been the stage for everything from high-profile conferences to Olympic fencing competitions, and it’s the perfect spot to start exploring EUR’s history.
We’ll cross over Cristoforo Colombo street that was build to connect the Eternal City with seaside and main Roman port.
From there, we’ll head down the district’s broad avenues and striking squares toward the iconic Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, affectionately known as the “Square Colosseum.” Today It’s the Headquarter of Fendi Fashion Brand. With its clean, repetitive arches and perfect symmetry, it’s not just a landmark—it’s a photographer’s dream. Trust us, you’ll want to pause here for that Instagram-worthy shot.
Next, we’ll pass the imposing Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, a modern reinterpretation of Roman grandeur with its massive dome and symmetrical shape. From the top of the hill, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of EUR that are simply stunning—Rome like you’ve never seen it before.
We’ll then make our way to the Laghetto dell’Eur, a hidden oasis surrounded by trees and greenery. With its peaceful atmosphere, it’s a welcome break from the urban energy and a moment to soak in the calm beauty of the area.
No visit to EUR would be complete without seeing the Nuvola, the “Cloud” conference center designed by Massimiliano Fuksas. This futuristic building made in glass and steel, seems to float in contrast to the district’s more traditional landmarks.
As we go back toward the Palazzo dei Congressi, we’ll pass a few spots that you might recognize from famous Italian films. From Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita to Boccaccio ’70, EUR has served as the backdrop for some of Italy’s most iconic cinematic moments.
This run isn’t just about exercise—it’s about experiencing a side of Rome that many visitors miss. With its wide streets and countless photo opportunities, EUR is the perfect destination for architecture lovers, history buffs, and anyone curious about discovering a different side of the Eternal City.
So, lace up your running shoes and join us for an unforgettable journey through this remarkable neighborhood. Who knows? You might just fall in love with Rome all over again!
