SALT LAKE CITY GRID CITY RUN - 8K

Runner on the ground - TYLER

On this fun run through the Grid City you will get a taste of the pioneer history, the influence Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (a.k.a. Mormons), landmarks from the 2002 Olympic Games, and our present day cultural sites.

We start with a quick peek of Temple Square to see the ornate Salt Lake City Temple and the headquarters of the LDS church. We’ll swing by Brigham Young’s home where he housed a few of his 56 wives.

Along the way you’ll see various statues and landmarks commemorating the 2002 Winter Olympics, a great way to prepare for the return of the games in 2034. We’ll pass by the Delta center which will host several events in the upcoming Olympics which also plays host to the new Utah Hockey Club and the Utah Jazz.

We’ll see other majestic landmarks like the Utah State Capitol and the Eagle Gate. We’ll imagine that we are a part of the gold rush as we stop by the Rio Grande train depot where many people came to Utah in search of prosperity.

It’s not just downtown that gives Salt Lake the affectionate nickname Grid City. We’ll get a glimpse of the valley to see this sprawling grid layout extend far and wide. Take in some of the peak views of the surrounding mountain ranges which give our city a picturesque backdrop.

Today’s City Creek Mall also has historical significance. The river that runs through the mall played a vital role as the primary water source for the Mormon pioneers. It powered mills and was used for early irrigation. Now it’s home to what you may think are koi fish, but they are actually trout!

This tour will give you a great overview of downtown Salt Lake, the history city and important landmarks that have made up the rich history of this area. This is a great tour if you’re looking for some recommendations of places to eat, shop, or go for entertainment while you’re visiting.
