SALT LAKE CITY MORMON MILES – 13K

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (a.k.a. Mormons) came to Utah in the 1800s, as pioneers fleeing religious persecution. On this tour you’ll learn [more about] the history of their arrival to the Great Salt Lake Valley and see some of the original buildings and monuments they created.

We start with a quick peek of Temple Square to see the ornate Salt Lake City Temple and the headquarters of the LDS church. We’ll swing by Brigham Young’s home where he housed a few of his 56 wives. We’ll finish off the day by running through the Eagle Gate to arrive back in downtown.

Along the way you’ll get to pass through Memory Grove Park and get some views of the Great Salt Lake. You’ll get to take in the Wasatch and Oquirrh mountain ranges while looking over the Salt Lake Valley. We’ll head down and around the Utah State Capitol Building where you’ll see more historic landmarks.

We’ll stop by a few historic sites like the final resting place of Brigham Young and the location of the first fort built by the pioneers. You’ll also get to see some of the filming locations of current day reality TV shows The Real Housewives of Salt Lake and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

This tour will give you an in depth understanding of how the pioneers arrived in the Great Salt Lake Valley and how the presence of the Church of Latter-Day Saints has shaped the culture, politics, economics and religion in Utah. You’ll also get some incredible and well-earned views of what makes Salt Lake City such a beautiful place to live.
