SINGAPORE RIVER RUN - 10K
Runner on the ground - ADRIAN
The tour starts at Merlion Park or a location of the guest’s choice.
The Merlion Mark is iconic with its Lion’s head and Mermaid’s body and serves as Singapore’s Mascot. The image of him spitting into the river is eye catching and is a must have photo of any trip to Singapore.
We will run around the quay and run towards Gardens by The Bay. As a major park with decades of planning needed, it is home to many “Super trees”. We will be weaving around the park before a short attack on Marina Barrage.
The Marina Barrage is a man-made dam at the mouth of the Singapore River and sits on the edge of the island. There will be a short climb to the top where, at the right time, you will get an uninterrupted view of the ocean as well as the city’s skyline.
We will then return through the Singapore river and pass through the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest before crossing over the river on the Helix Bridge and the Youth Olympic Park. As Singapore is the site of the first ever Youth Olympic Games, there is quite abit of significance built around the island for this event.
We will pass by the Esplanade, Singapore’s home of the Arts that is known for it’s shape and stylings resembling the Durian, a very spiky and pungent fruit found almost year round these days.
We will cut through the CBD towards many historical buildings and bridges like the Ancient Civilizations Museum, Parliament House and Anderson Bridge.
Once we reach Clemenceau Bridge, we will turn onto the other side of the river. We will see several statues along the way to highlight the life that the river used to have with it’s different residents in the past before it’s massive cleanup in the 1970s.
We will end once we get through the Fullerton Hotel, one of Singapore’s oldest and most prestigious hotels and end at Merlion Park, where we can get a true Singapore Breakfast if requested!
