TOUR AROUND VENICE – 10K

Run all around Venice, literally! We’ll trot along the perimeter of the whole city, passing through its calles, crossing its bridges and winding canals. Enjoy the silence of the city before the Venetians wake up and listen to the sound of just your running shoes while you run through an empty Saint Mark’s square.

TOUR AROUND VENICE - 10K

Runner on the ground - ALESSANDRO

Our run will start in Saint Mark’s square in the early morning, when the square is empty and quiet. We’ll run by Saint Mark’s basilica, gazing at its shimmering golden mosaics and its fancy marbles. We’ll listen to the sound of the bells of the campanile, the tallest bell tower of the city, and we’ll learn how to read the time on the Torre dell’Orologio, a five hundred year old clock tower.

We’ll continue on to the Doge’s Palace to run under its gothic arcades until we reach the most famous bridge of the city: the Bridge of Sighs!

The tour continues along St. Mark’s basin to reach the district of Castello and the monumental entrance of the Arsenale: the complex of shipyards where the Venetians built the ships for their merchants and their powerful fleet. The gate to the Arsenale is watched by two gigantic lions. Would you like to know why? Our run will then proceed to the residential district of Cannaregio, swerving in the winding calles and stepping up and down the bridges; the smell of fresh made coffee coming from the first floor windows will wake us up and give us the energy to reach the Jewish Ghetto. We’ll run by the ancient synagogues and proceed to the Scalzi Bridge across the Grand Canal. It’s time to change district and move to Santa Croce and Dorsoduro district: we’ll see the greatest universities of Venice: the IUAV and the Ca’ Foscari, we’ll go by the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and continue on to the Punta della Dogana. The Dogana was once the custom house of the Most Serene Republic of Venice and it stands right at the entrance of the Grand Canal, giving a view on Saint Mark Venice that will stick with you for quite some time.

Due to getting lost 200m from my hotel in Venice I wasn’t keen on trying to go for a run on my own so I booked a running tour and I’m so glad I did. Being able to focus on the amazing surroundings and learn about the city without having to focus on where I was going was an incredible experience. Giorgia was fantastic, not only is she a brilliant runner, her knowledge of the city and the ease of conversation made the 10k fly by. The photos she took were in the best locations and even though the stairs were a lot, the smile on my face in the photos was 100% authentic. Definitely worth booking.

A great way to see this beautiful city without the crowds. No stress trying to work your way through the labyrinth. Georgia was a brilliant guide. It’s well worth the early start, leaving you feeling energised and smug you’ve beaten the crowds!

I had a magical run through Venezia with Giorgia at sunrise, seeing this amazing city senza i turisti (without all the tourists). The early morning light was simply sensational 🤩. Giorgia was born, raised, and still lives here, and she knows the city so well. She also took the most amazing pics of me during the run, and was patient with me stopping to take lots of photos too. Loved it!!!

Exploring the quiet, early morning streets was a unique experience. Alessandro was knowledgeable and kept the pace comfortable. We saw famous landmarks and hidden spots, with stunning views of the canals at sunrise.

This tour was a highlight of our trip and a great way to see Venice. Highly recommend for any runner!

I loved my amazing 10k run around Venice with Alessandro. He was so knowledgeable and interesting and made the kilometres fly by! I wouldn’t normally get up at 6am on holiday but I’m so glad I did and will definitely do it again when I come back to this beautiful city. Thanks Alessandro.

I ran with Giorgia this morning. She is a wonderful tour guide. She is also an amazing runner. I ran better than I usually run because she is such a great guide and pacer. I wish I could hire her as my running coach. She would make me a better runner.

    Fantastica esperienza

    Marco

I had the most wonderful run with Georgia! Venice’s streets and alleys are complicated and would have been so lost without her. Her in-depth knowledge of the city’s history and landmarks made the run extra special. I would 100% do this again.

It’s now two months after doing the running tour around Venice and it’s the thing I remember most about my first visit to Venice. I highly recommend it. Alessandro helped me with the logistics of getting to the start from my hotel and Giorgia was a brilliant guide – running at my pace, interesting chat about living in Venice and took some pretty good photos of us along the way. If you’re wondering whether to do this tour or not, do it!

    Jaran Raa

What a Sunday morning! I had an awesome 10k run with Giorgia. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide or running partner, great work out, and we had the nicest chat along the way.
To take in the sights with almost no people around is highly recommended. Also, when you get off the beaten track, a different kind of Venice opens up. And all this while you are running.

    Excellent service! Thank you!

He was great company as was Marco and took so many incredible pics of us enjoying the city before the masses descended. We would definitely do it again and cannot thank Alessandro enough! Absolutely so worth it! Did my run this morning with Giorgia and it was perfect! She took me around the city and was nice to see everything in the morning without crowds. She knew the city like the back of her hand (she lives here) and was so engaging during the run. Also kept me on a good pace that I didn’t know I had in myself. Recommend this to anyone that wants a great workout and take in the city!

Went for a lovely 10km around Venice with Giorgia as my guide.

Giorgia was an absulte blessing as I wouldn’t have been able to navigate the city without her.
She was fun and excellent to talk with and learn about Venice with.

    Would recommend.
Ps there is a lot of bridges to climb.

Alessandro is an amazing runner and guide who will show you those parts of Venice that no every tourist gets to see. From the Jewish quarter to tiny tucked away gardens and open spaces, his running tour is a must do for those who enjoy getting some exercise as well as sight see. Do yourself a favor and book one of his amazing runs. You won’t be disappointed!

My running guide, Giorgia, was wonderful! She arrived early, ran a good pace, pointed out the city highlights, and told me about her family and herself. I really enjoyed seeing parts of Venice I wouldn’t have found on my own and doing a run I wouldn’t have done without Giorgia by my side.

    Early morning Venice exploration

    Mary

This was perfect!! Alessandro was knowledgeable and a pleasure to explore with. Going early before it was too warm or too crowded let us enjoy a whole other side of Venice!

Please note that the bridges necessarily make for punchy little climbs rather than a flat course when choosing what distance is right for you. The flexible pace and frequent photo stops definitely take off any pressure though.

I would absolutely recommend this as the best way to see Venice for anyone who enjoys running.

My souvenir from Venice was a run with Alessandro around the city. He was a great guide, and the hour-long run felt so much shorter with great conversation, stops for water and photos along the way, and plenty of beautiful sites from around the city. If you are a runner and find a holiday incomplete without a great run, I highly encourage you to give Alessandro a try. I had the best time and now have a great memory from my trip to Venice.

Great run with Giorgia on Sunday morning. Despite the winds and clouds, we enjoyed our run with her. She guided us throughout Venice and took us thru streets and alleys we wouldn’t have done on our own. We saw sights and places we wouldn’t have thought to see like arsenale and the hospital. She took the to explain and took lots of photos of us. This was not my first running tour with Go Running Tours. I have been quite pleased with the experience. Mixing touring with one’s own passion of running.
