URBAN AMSTERDAM - 13 KM
While not the “classic” sightseeing run this is probably the most spectacular and scenic running tour in Amsterdam.

Most people come to Amsterdam for the Medieval Centre and the famous Canal Belt. But there is another absolutely spectacular side to Amsterdam just a few strides outside the busy old town.
This running tour combines many of the must see of Amsterdam with urban life off the beaten track: world-class architecture, amazing views, and some of the best-kept secrets of Amsterdam. The tour also gives you a great insight into maritime history, Amsterdam’s main reason for its existence.
We visit Dam Square, the notorious Red Light District, the UNESCO canal belt and the Museum Harbor with its antique ships. Running through the scenic and historical ‘Plantage’ neighborhood we visit the oldest park in Amsterdam. We also pass a typical Dutch windmill and might come across some elephants while running along the zoo. Following east we explore the former docklands, harbors and warehouses that have been transformed into new and spectacular living and working spaces. This region, hosting the KNSM and Java Island, is renowned for its architecture and definitely a highlight for anybody interested in modern architecture and city development.
We will run along the river IJ, the boardwalk of Amsterdam, with spectacular views over the water and the rapidly developing north side of the town.
The run is full of surprises, picture and Wow moments. Most of the time our tour will only be a few steps from the water, spoiling us constantly with scenic views.

We did the 13k Urban tour with David and had a fabulous time. David was knowledgeable and engaging and showed us so much. He kept a great pace and despite some wet and windy weather the time flew by. It was a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam and was a great way to get our bearings early on in our visit.

I did the 13k running tour through Amsterdam with David and cannot recommend enough. It was a fantastic way to see the city! David was very knowledgeable and great to run with! Definitely worth doing if you enjoy running

What a perfect way to see and get to know a city! Also a great, easy and safe way to have a longer run in a city you don’t know that well beforehand. David had an extensive knowledge about Amsterdam and had designed a truly nice route for us. He was also great company and I can recommend him for any run. Special thanks for accommodating my specific asks for a smoother and longer run.

Beautiful early morning run in sunny Amsterdam with David. Perfect pace and great training opportunity whilst on holiday. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a mid week run with some history thrown in!

Really enjoyed the Urban tour with David, was good to go around the North side of Amsterdam and see something different. We were collected from our hotel and set off at a pace to suit us seeing the new buildings and the rapid changes as well as understanding around the history of the area. David knew the area well and pointed out lots of things both new and historical on both sides of the river. He even took some time at the end to point out some other places we should visit on the map, would definitely recommend this tour if you are in Amsterdam and like running.

Caroline took the two of us on a lovely run around the city center on a beautiful August morning, and we saw parts of Amsterdam we never would have discovered on our own. Her knowledge of local history gave the architecture new meaning, such as the purpose of the hooks on the tops of houses and the little drawbridges across some of the canals. She also pointed out contemporary attractions such as the best apple pie in town…and a gourmet peanut butter shop! We were talking about the run for the rest of the week. Thank you Caroline for showing us Amsterdam from a new perspective!

I had an amazing morning running through Amsterdam with David. David tailored the tour to suit exactly what I required, picking me up from my AirBnB, running at my pace and tailoring the tour to the 15kms that I wanted to run, while showing me the best of the city. It was such a fun morning

This was amazing. David was super friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. He was flexible with the routes, which meant i got to see a side of Amsterdam that i would not have otherwise have seen, and, since the proliferation of Google maps, often wondered about. With his empathetic approach i came back feeling like David had been my running buddy for years; i was actually a little sad to say goodbye. Thank you ‘Go Running’ for the great memory.
