Runner on the ground - ANDREW

Come run the nation’s capital with me! On this run we’ll see the glowing Potomac River and Tidal Basin, historic monuments, the Capitol and the White House.

We’ll begin our run along the Potomac River starting across from the infamous Watergate Hotel, forever linked to President Nixon’s 1974 resignation. Heading south along the Potomac River, we’ll pass by the Kennedy Center, home to the National Symphony Orchestra.

From here, we’ll connect to the National Mall, meeting Honest Abe and the Lincoln Memorial. Climbing the steps to the top of the monument reveals a breathtaking view of our run ahead.

Moving along the Reflecting Pool, we’ll visit the World War II memorial. As we run toward the Tidal Basin, we’ll see the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The civil rights leader carved in stone stands 30 feet high, proudly overlooking the water before him.

From here we’ll enter the four rooms of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, each room representing one of his terms as president. Next up is the Jefferson Memorial – if he is a president on a coin or a bill, we have a monument to him here!

Back to the Mall, we’ll run past the towering Washington Monument toward the U.S. Capitol building while passing some of the city’s best museums.

Reaching the Capitol, we will circle past the Reflecting Pool, before heading back up the Mall to the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden. The contemporary, playful art pieces set throughout a garden of perennial plants and landscaped lawns offer a unique setting in the backdrop of downtown DC.

Moving out of the Garden, we’ll pass by the Washington Monument again before diverging up to Lafayette Park to see the White House, our Nation’s most protected residence. From here, we’ll wave goodbye as we pass by Lincoln again before running back to our start alongside the river.
