This tour packs in the sights of Washington, DC – the nation’s capital! From the Waterfront to the White House, this 8k takes you on an encompassing tour of the city all in under an hour!

Starting downtown in Lafayette Park, adjacent to the White House, we’ll visit the residence that has been home to United States presidents and their families since 1800. Continuing around the pristine 18 acre grounds, we will run to the World War II Memorial. Two impressive rows of 17 foot pillars and a pair of triumphal arches surround a fountain bedecked plaza – the newest memorial added to the National Mall. Under the shade of the American elm trees, we will run along the Reflecting Pool, part of the iconic image of the city; the path around the pool hosts millions of visitors annually.

Reaching the eastern end of the Mall, we will climb the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. At the top sits the larger-than-life statue of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president, with a charming view of the city looking out across the Reflecting Pool and Mall.

Heading down from the Memorial, we will continue along past the national park’s horse stables before visiting the Tidal Basin. This serene body of water is home to our next stop, the Martin Luther King Memorial. Here the civil rights leader stands 30 feet tall, carved out of granite, with his quotes from his “I Have a Dream” speech, famously delivered from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963, etched in the surrounding walls.

Moving around the Tidal Basin, we’ll enter the Franklin Delanor Roosevelt (FDR) Memorial and its four rooms. Each room represents one of his four presidential terms, with unique elements including waterfalls, sculptures and the only statue of a first lady, FDR’s wife, Eleanor Roosevelt. Our next stop is the neoclassical counterpoint to the Lincoln, the historic Jefferson Memorial, completed and dedicated by FDR when he was in office.

Our run continues to the Washinton Monument. The 555 foot monolith, a distinct feature of the city skyline, provides an excellent 360 degree view of the city below. Our loop is almost complete, just south of the White House, we will pass The Ellipse – the presidential park – before completing our tour!
