Description
Experience the Chao Phraya River on a running tour that guides us through the centre of the city and along the canals (Klong). Its waterways are the true symbols of a city that was known as the “Venice of the East”.
Exploring Bangkok on the run is a great way to get into the thick of this steamy city. The running tour will consist of 15 km and start from the most popular shopping area in Bangkok. We run along Klong Phadung Krung Kasem, one of the original canals around the Grand Palace. Then its time to go uphill on the Rama VIII Bridge that crosses the Chao Phraya River. The River of Kings is the major river in Thailand and there are many small canals (klong) that split off from this main river. The waters of the Chao Phraya River have shaped the history of the modern Thai capital and you will breathing in years of history as you make your way through the city.
On this running tour, you will see some of the best river views from the Santi Chai Prakan park at Phra Sumen Fort. Located at the northern tip of Rattanakosin Island right next to the main river, this park is a precious, intimate green jewel.
Running away from the riverside to Sanam Luang we reach a wide open royal field and the site of many ceremonies and festivals associated with the royal family. We aim for one of the Old town Islands (Rattankosin Island) where ancient streets are surrounded by impressive architecture. There are traditional Buddhist temples (Wat), Colonial buildings and the old community. A trip to Bangkok is not complete without a visit to some of Rattanakosin’s prime sights. The most important of which is the Grand Palace. The running tour continues to Ratchadamnoen road, where you will experience of several government offices including the Government House and the Democracy Monument.
Before running back to modern society, we will visit the Mahakan Fort community where we are exposed to the authentic way the locals live in a unique and natural setting.
This running tour is the perfect opportunity to see the main sights of Bangkok Old Town such as the Grand Palace and Wat Pra Kaew. Enjoy the spectaculars views of the ancients’ temples.

Went for the 15km tour with Kaya as my running guide. It was my first time running in Bangkok, and having a local guide was invaluable, not just in navigating around the city, but also in learning about the city and culture. Highly recommended, and I look forward to another run in the future.

Likewise, I had a great morning run with you. The pleasure is mine.
Thank you for running with me and sharing perspectives on various topics, especially about how you are building the Eight Lane business. That was inspiring to me.
I’m looking forward to running with you again – that’s for sure! ~ Kaya W.

It was an honour to enjoy Ratchanee’s city with her this morning. Starting in the dark and watching the sunrise over the waking city, enjoying some of the sights and local hospitality. A great way to enjoy a foreign city with a local.

Running in a city like Bangkok isn’t easy, but Ratchanee is a pro. The route was well planned and adjusted to provide a great balance of the popular sites as well as the new and hip parts of the Old Town. Additionally, the route ensured we we’re well hydrated despite the early morning heat, including a delicious and refreshing cold tea rest stop. I learned a lot about the city and throughly enjoyed this tour.

There’s no better way to set a fierce and fabulous tone for the new year than a long run in a beautiful place filled with new sights and discoveries. We are so grateful to Ratchanee for making those aspirations come true for my husband and me with an amazing New Year’s Day running experience – navigating us through the books and crannies of Bangkok’s China Town, introducing us to Bangkok’s incredible street art scene and showing us the spectacular architectural and cultural sights along the river. We came away from our tour energised, invigorated and deeply grateful to Ratchanee for sharing her time, insights and joyful personality with us. It’s a New Year’s Day run we will never forget, that’s for sure!
