This 20 km tour will embark on an unforgettable running journey through the heart of Budapest, commencing at the historic Kossuth Square. This vibrant square is flanked by majestic government buildings, including our beautiful Parliament.
Your strides will carry you down the prestigious Andrássy Street, lined with architectural wonders and luxury boutiques. We are going to run past the Opera House and the newest, prestigious 5-star hotel which is used to be the Ballet Institute. Along the Andrássy street there are many iconic palace that are dated back to the 18-19th century.
Continuing along Andrássy Street, the majestic Heroes Square emerges as a symbol of Hungary’s grandeur. The Millennium Monument, surrounded by statues representing the country’s historical figures, creates a powerful backdrop for your run, infusing each step with a sense of national pride.
Behind Heroes square, we are going to explore the beautiful City Park, with treasures such as the Castle of Vajdahunyad, the House of Music which won one of the world’s most prestigious architectural awards, the Design of the Year award. Széchenyi Bath, which we are also going to touch upon, is the most popular bathing place in Budapest and also one of the most attractive sights of the capital.
Diverging from the bustling streets, your route leads to the Budapest Zoo, a tranquil oasis within the city. The rhythmic beat of your feet harmonizes with the natural sounds of the zoo, creating a unique and immersive running experience. As you traverse Lehel Square, the urban rhythm picks up, offering a dynamic contrast to the more serene portions of your journey.
The path then guides you to the enchanting Margaret Island, a green sanctuary in the heart of the Danube. The island’s picturesque landscapes, medieval ruins, and recreational spaces provide a refreshing interlude for runners. The gentle sounds of the river accompany your strides, making Margaret Island a captivating retreat within the bustling city.
Venturing towards the Buda Promenade, the Danube River unfolds before you, offering breathtaking views of the Buda Castle and the historic cityscape. Cobblestone streets and historic architecture contribute to the immersive ambiance of your run, connecting you with Budapest’s rich heritage.
Concluding your running odyssey back at Kossuth Square, you’ll have covered a diverse terrain that encapsulates the city’s cultural, historical, and natural treasures.
