Runner on the ground - EMER

10 years of running

We start our run with a visit to the origins of Dublin, Dubh Linn to see how this intimate city began. No Dublin visit would be complete without a snapshot of the iconic Guinness Gates where we dive into Dublin’s layers of history while venturing through the colorful Liberties. The Liberties offers a view of new and old Dublin sites and is the home of St. Patrick’s Cathedral where our native saint baptized the locals.

We make our way to the literary quarter of Dublin while stretching out through the cobblestones of Temple Bar, viewing the Liffey River from the Ha’penny Bridge, experiencing the historic character of Trinity College campus and taking a peep at the secret location of St. Valentines heart.

After, we are instantly introduced to the aesthetically pleasing Georgian Dublin buildings on Merrion Square with a visit to James Joyce and Oscar Wilde’s familiar settings. We jog by Dublin’s entertaining pubs on Baggot Street and end with a peaceful finish in St. Stephens Green City Park.

This 9km tour is an amazing opportunity to run through the best of Dublin’s fair city where you will experience insider knowledge of the personality of the neighborhoods and sights all in the company of a local Dublin native.

The best way to see Dublin

This was my fifth GoRunningTour and my favorite way to explore a new city. I ran with David, who was a knowledgeable and friendly guide. He picked me up from my airbnb and was very flexible with the route and pace, even changing the route to accommodate places I had not yet seen. I loved listening to the history and stories he shared with me during our run, and provided excellent recommendations on how to spend the rest of our time in Dublin. For sure one of the highlights of my time in Dublin.

We are a group of 4 female runners who booked onto the Dublin City running tour with Emer last Sunday. Emer picked us up at Connelly station and we ran a 10km route around the heart of the city. Emer is an excellent guide and made sure we ran at a pace that suited everyone. She is organised, knowledgeable, charming and an inspiration to all runners. She made sure we visited all the main attractions as well as the lesser known and took photos of us at various points. We all enjoyed it immensely and would recommend the tour to both experienced and novice runners. Thank you for a great morning Emer.

My nephew and I came to Ireland for his high school graduation trip. I thought a running tour of Dublin would be something he would enjoy and I was right – it was such a highlight! Emer was a wonderful guide – knowledgeable, friendly, excellent communication beforehand and after – she took some great pics of us during the run, which sent along with a few insider tips for other things to see while in the city. A truly excellent tour! I can’t recommend it enough! If you enjoy running, what a wonderful way to see Dublin!

It was my first trip to Europe. Emer was great in accommodating my time and itinerary requests. She was very detailed in explaining to me the history and stories in the different sites that we covered, and was flexible with the route. It has been a great experience, highly recommended. No fear in the kind of running you can do, as Emer was kind in adjusting her pace accordingly.

Emer met us at our central Airbnb promptly and we proceeded on a very pleasant run through central Dublin sites. It was our first time and first full day in Dublin so the run and Emer’s Excellent narration gave us a great intro to our visit. She tailored the run to our interests and gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants pubs and other activities. A great experience and a lot of fun..

Very fun tour of Dublin with Emer! We saw all the sights, but nice and early before the city was awake on a Sunday morning. Emer was a great tour guide and I definitely recommend this tour next time you’re in Dublin!

I had an amazing 9.5 kilometer early morning run with Emer who showed me all the exciting and charming highlights of Dublin. Emer knows a lot of interesting facts about the city which made the tour both entertaining and interesting. She adapted to my running pace and was so kind to start the tour from the hotel where I was staying. I had a great work out and can not think of a better way to have started my business trip to Dublin. Highly recommended!!

My husband Jon and I are avid fans of Go Running Tours and try to take a running tour in every city we visit. We ran with Emer this past weekend and had a blast! We are not strangers to Dublin, and were very pleased to not only cover 10K on a beautiful, sunny, early morning run with a very friendly and knowledgeable Dubliner, but we were also pleasantly surprised to see and hear many things we did not know or were unaware of. We loved running through The Liberties and getting to take our picture in front of the black Guinness gates (usually impossible because of all the other tourists trying to do the same thing). Running along the canal was great and definitely off our beaten tourist path. We also very much appreciated Emer’s post-run email with suggestions for food, music and drink. Not to mention her great tips on where to watch the evening’s rugby match – that in itself became another highlight of our trip! Highly recommend a running tour with Emer and Go Running Tours Dublin!

My husband and I did a tour with Emer and it was amazing! By far one of our favorite things from the trip. It felt like we were running with an old friend. She shared so many interesting facts and gave us some great tips. After our run she even emailed us pictures from the tour and gave us some great recommendations of places to eat and sites to see. It was such a personal experience and I would love to do it again. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Dublin.
