Meeting at the Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square), of KL Zero Milestone to be exact and the surrounding historical buildings then we will run towards the River of Life where the beginning of KL with the meeting of the 2 most important rivers in Malaysia then passing through the Masjed Jamek (the oldest Mosque in KL) with its Moorish architecture. From heritage to forest, then we will arrive at the happening spots in KL, the uber modern part of KL city epitomized by the KL Twin Tower and its park. You will enjoy the great views of the KLTwin Towers in this beautifully landscaped oasis in the city center. Also known as Kuala Lumpur City Park, KLCC Park features a 1.3 km rubberized jogging track that uses a special surface called EPDM. Enjoy the Gorgeous gardens, lake with fountain, and the good facilities.
Running in the deep jungle forest
After encircling the majestic KLCC twin towers via the KLCC park, we will proceed to Bukit Nanas Eco Forest, the remaining oldest and reserved natural rainforest right in the middle of the heart of KL. Bukit Nanas Eco-Forest with the KL Tower sitting on the top of the hill. This is one the original natural forest right in the middle of KL downtown. The contrast between the concrete jungle and the sense of deep tropical jungle the moment you step into this Eco Forest would surely feel surreal! There’s also the Canopy trail that you can enjoy the view from above of the Forest and the surrounding. You will be wowed by the fresh air and the lush green exotic forest in the midst of concrete jungle! Now renamed as KL Eco Forest Reserve has 0.5-hectare forest reserve and was gazetted as a Wildlife Reserve and Bird Sanctuary in 1934 and 1950 respectively, with an area of about 5 hectares identified as a Virgin Jungle Reserve.
Running at the green lung of KL
Then we will proceed to the Taman Tugu, once the site of government homes and then an unofficial landfill, Taman Tugu was saved from commercial developers who probably wanted to put another crappy mall on the spot. Instead, it was converted to a 66-acre public park and conservation site with over 5 kilometres of trails, which aims to conserve, protect, and preserve a secondary forest located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Whilst tracking, you can enjoy looking at the many flora and faunas. You can also listen to the sound of birds and monkeys climbing from one tree to the other. This stunning green space is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and boasts over 66 acres of lush greenery. With its rolling hills, tranquil lakes, and winding paths, Taman Tugu is the perfect place to lace up your running shoes and explore the great outdoors. Imagine the fresh air on your face, the sun on your skin, and the wind in your hair as you run through this beautiful park! You will have the chance to enjoy the beautiful big trees, vegetation and if lucky wildlife such as monkeys, lizards, ants, birds, squirrels etc. You may feel lost in the deep jungle of a tropical rainforest!
Running at the Heart of KL
Last but not least, less than a 10 minutes run from Taman Tugu, we will arrive at the Perdana Botanical Gardens. Originally designed as a recreational park, the Perdana Botanical Gardens sit within the 170-acre Tun Abdul Razak Heritage Park in the Padang Merbok — the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Located near Parliament, the National Museum of Malaysia, and the Central Railway Station, the Gardens are a great spot for running.
With its towering trees, rolling hills, and serene lake, Perdana Botanical Gardens offers a peaceful oasis in the midst of the bustling city. You will have run past the KL Deer Park that houses adorable deer ranging from Holland deer’s to local mousedeer, fallow deer, axis deer, and sambar deer. There is no doubt that you will certainly enjoy the company of these adorable creatures as you run across this park.
Finally, we will end at where’s it all begin, at Dataran Merdeka or KL Ground Zero.
This tour is a mixture of tarmac road and soft ground trail in the rainforest. You will be impressed and amazed with the coexistence of deep tropical rainforest within the heart of KL.
