SAN FRANCISCO BRIDGE TO BRIDGE RUN – 21K
Runner on the ground - JULIA
Run along the water as we go from the Bay Bridge to the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge, winding back through iconic city sights.
We will start in the heart of the city in Union Square and make our way down to the San Francisco Bay and the Bay Bridge. We’ll learn about how much of the city’s history was shaped by earthquakes and what that meant for the bridge as well as the present-day Embarcadero walkway. We’ll then continue along the wide sidewalk of the Embarcadero, making our way toward the famous San Francisco sea lions and Fisherman’s Wharf. We will continue along the water as the next bridge, the Golden Gate, comes into view. When we get to the Golden Gate Bridge we will have an opportunity to take photos, use facilities, or watch the surfers catching some of the most scenic waves around.
As we head back to the starting point we will have an opportunity to run through a short trail in the Presidio, a former U.S. Army post that is now a park (and home to Lucasfilm for any Star Wars fans). We will then continue back to the city center, passing Cable cars, Grace Cathedral, and the stately homes of Nob Hill built by the Robber barons of the 19th century. Keep an eye out for self-driving cars and other present-day wonders.
