SAN FRANCISCO SUMMER OF LOVE – 11K
Runner on the ground - JULIA
This tour is for history buffs or park aficionados or anyone in between. We will begin at the beautiful City hall and learn about some San Francisco history. From there we will run towards the picturesque Alamo square, stopping to catch our breath (and photos) at the top of the hill. The Hayes Street Hill is part of one of the city’s best-loved running races: Bay to Breakers. TV fans will also recognize the famous “painted ladies” houses here and the “Full House” façade. The painted ladies are some of the best-preserved Victorian homes in the city.
From Alamo Square, we will continue on to Golden Gate Park, a true gem in the city. There will be plenty of opportunities for water and bathroom stops along the car-free jogging paths in the park, surrounded by eucalyptus trees, museums, and local joggers on their morning runs. We’ll run by the botanical gardens, AIDS memorial grove, and hippie hill, learning about what each of these corners of the park means to the city.
Exiting the park we will make our way down Haight Street, famous for music, hippies, and being part of the SF marathon course! We’ll continue on our mostly downhill course back to the starting point, with many options for delicious coffee and pastries to cap off the run.
