COBBLES | TRAILS & BEACH TOUR - 18K
Runner on the ground - EDINBURGH RUNNING GUIDE
This is a tour that takes you away from the city centre and off the tourist track to explore areas of Edinburgh you would otherwise not likely see.
We start our run by heading away from the busyness of the centre and into the calmness of Holyrood Park, where you can look up at our very own extinct volcano, Arthur’s Seat. From here we run around the base and head down to the peaceful, historic village of Duddingston. Here, we run along the cobbles to the oldest pub in Scotland, where the Queen likes to have a meal every summer. It is then on down to Portobello beach where we can watch the waves crashing into the shore and if we are feeling strong we can try some running in the sand, or keep it on the pavement!
It is then a steady run along Brunstane Burn Path before we end up on the Innocent Railway, where you can see some of the first ever train tracks laid in Scotland and find out the story behind why it was named the ‘Innocent’ railway. We finish our run by going through a secret tunnel under the hill that most locals do not even know about!
This is the perfect run to uncover local Edinburgh and see the city from a different perspective.
