Description
Get ready for a long run through every corner of Florence. This running tour allows you to have a complete view of the varied, inspirational and mindblowing character of Florence. It is a perfect running tour if you want to get your long run in while also getting in touch with the town.
From the center of the former roman military camp the running tour leads you to Piazza Signoria and the worldwide known Uffizi Gallery as well as the Basilica of Santa Croce. After leaving the city centre that is UNESCO World Heritage, you’ll run slightly uphill by Viale Michelangelo, a nice “promenade” that leads us to the very best viewpoint of Florence.
The running tour then goes downhill by the picturesque Erta Canina, a narrow street going down back to the city centre. Runners will dive into a unique mix of art history and architecture, jumping from the medieval “tower houses” to the magnificence of Palazzo Pitti with its great facade of brown stone; from the clean design of Brunelleschi’s Renaissance church of Santo Spirito to the small golden shops hanging on Ponte Vecchio. After the history and the art another must see is the Florentine “runner’s paradise” that is the Cascine Park with its incredible forest and big lawns, but also a nice example of rationalist architecture.
The conclusion of the tour could not be more different than re-entering the city centre and seeing the masterpiece of the Brunelleschi Dome, and the Medici Family Palace. The running tour is offered in two versions the “short” one which is 21 Km (13 Miles) and the long version which is 23 Km (14.3 Miles). The longer running tour includes the open air amphitheatre and Indian Prince monument in the Cascine park. If you like to book the 23Km running tour just add two extra km during the booking process.
This running tour is suitable for any kind of trained runner but take into account that the course includes ups and downs – ups and downs where it is totally fine to slow down or even walk a bit. The tour duration is up to your personal pace, but just to have and idea it usually takes from 2 to almost 3 hours.
This tour is suitable for extra km add-on see below.
Nancy and Dan –
My husband and I did the Florence grand tour with Lapo. We have done a number of Go Running tours when we visit a new city. This was the best tour we have done. Lapo was amazing. He kept us moving at a steady pace with breaks for water etc., but he kept the stories flowing the whole time. He explained the architecture and history of Florence and also gave us an understanding of life in present day Florence. He provided recommendations for places to eat and visit that proved extremely useful. Thank you Lapo!

Lapo is great! I ran 24 KM with him. He is both a great tour guide and a great runner. He showed me all of the sights and was great company. I am training for the Paris Marathon and Lapo helped pace me to get a good training run. Lapo will show you sights that are stunningly beautiful. Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Lapo is the perfect guide to show you this amazing city. Thank you Lapo!

Lapo was amazing! This was one of the best expirences (I forgot we were running!).
Lapo went out of his way to make this a special event. He even designed a special route to make the run a 30K.
I could not recommend this more to anyone who is looking for a way to see the city, get in exercise or do something unique.

The tour was really good. Lapo was really accommodating with the starting time. Lapo is really knowledgable about the town of Florence (historical facts, places to run, good places for chocolates/lunch/dinner) so we will definitely book another tour when we are back in Florence

I enjoyed this amazing tour of Florence early in the morning before the streets were crowded with tourists. Lapo was an awesome guide. He is very knowledgeable of the city and let me stop to take photos. I really appreciate that he sent me a follow up email that described all of the places we had seen on our run. He also sent suggestions for restaurants. I felt very welcome.

I had the best time running through the hills of Siena with Lapo! He was super friendly and polite, very knowledgeable and set a good pace! I especially love that he sent and overview of everything we saw after the run as it was hard to remember all the info at once. Great run, great tour and will for sure do another run with him again in the future when we go to Florence!

This running tour was one of the highlights of my vacation! Lapo is great! He provided excellent historical information as we ran. The route was better than I anticipated! I was able to see more of the city with this tour than on my own. I would definitely do this tour again.
