COLONIAL SAN ANGEL TOUR - 7 KM

Runner on the ground - CITLA
San Angel is a unique neighbourhood and a place “not to be missed” while in Mexico City. So jump in your running shoes and join us on this mindblowing running Tour. San Angel was born from the Xitle Volcano eruption and declared a Magical neighborhood by the Mexico’s City government during the XIX century. Its original name was Tenanitla and was the home of the richest families in the city.
We will begin our running tour in “La Bombilla”, a park that was witness of important events that changed Mexico’s history during the 20th century. One of these events was the murderer of Alvaro Obregon, the Mexican president who put an end to one of the most complicated armed conflicts, the “Mexico’s Revolution War” and why his right arm was con-nected to this place for several years after his dead.
You wouldn’t believe that the name of the park is related with the great inventor, Thomas Alva Edison.
During the run we discover the life of the Carmelita’s priest order inside the Carmen’s Con-vent that is located in this beautiful neighborhood. The convent itself is both interesting and beautiful and for certain a photo stop worth.
From convents to taxis. The very first taxi station in Mexico City known as the San Jacinto taxi station or “148” is still in here in San Angel where the service of the taxis started fifty years ago. As the running tour continues we run inside the most important University of Mexico, “UNAM”, which besides being a cradle of great scientists, historians and thinkers, contains great works of art from famous artists like David Alfaro Siqueiros, Juan O’Gorman and Diego Rivera. Its a unique chance to discover the philosophy of this great University and its history, while also taking its impressive main building and surroundings that is today declared UNE-SCO world heritage. UNAM is today regarded as one of the world’s leading universities and the very best Spanish speaking university in the world and its alumni boasts Nobel Prize winners.
We could go on about UNAM, San Angel and volcanoes, but we have a better idea. Join us on a running tour and we will tell you all about it in person and while we get a bit of exerci-se in.
So don’t forget your running shoes and join us on a run to explore the San Angel neighbor-hood and the greatest UNAM.
