NICE WATERFALL AND ROMAN RUINS TOUR - 10K
Runner on the ground - ARMAND
This tour is a 10km circuit with a challenging climb on “La colline du Chateau” but don’t worry, we’ll have some flat warm-up before tackling the stairs and the view is worth the effort! We start at Place Masséna near the Statue of Apollo. We will begin by following the “Coulée Verte” – a big park with a playground for kids on the theme of the sea animals. We will pass “Lycée Massena”, one of the oldest high school of Nice. At the end of the park the guide will show you a famous seafood restaurant and if you’re not into it a famous local ice cream shop (everyone loves ice creams right?).
We will be running on the iconic Promenade des Anglais – until we reach the Negresco hotel, a building that was used as an hospital during the world war II. The guide will show you some rooftops where you could go grab a drink for recovery during your stay in the city and will give you a list of the must try local food.
We will enter into the narrow streets of the old town “Vieux Nice”. These tiny streets are emblematic and many bars and restaurants with local food can be found. Depending of the timing of the run, we will see the flower markets which occurs in the morning. After this 6km warm-up, we will tackle the stairs to the “Colline du Chateau” where we will see an artificial waterfall and some real roman ruins. We will also have the best view on all the city.
We will get back to the old town, see the church “Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur”, we will pass through the harbour and see some beautiful yachts and perhaps one of the Corsica Ferries departing or arriving from Corsica. After seeing the “Monument aux Morts” – a historic construction built into a cliff. The runners will have a view of the sea and on the beautiful curve of the “Promenade des Anglais” – finishing the tour at the “Nice” sign.
