Description
We start at Yagan Square which connects the City and Northbridge entertainment precinct. Yagan Square has historical importance to Western Australia and some unique features. We follow the footpath above the underground bus port to the contemporary Perth Arena which hosts the Hopman Cup Tennis and is home of the 2019 National Basketball Champions – Perth Wildcats.
We head up hill slightly to Parliament House and the iconic Kings Park. Kings Park is a mixture of grassed parkland, botanical gardens, natural bushland and home to over 25000 plant species and some unique Boab trees transplanted from the far north of Western Australia.
You will have plenty of opportunities for some great photographs as we run to the State War Memorial; a place of remembrance for men and women lost at war serving their country and other tributes are spread throughout the park.
We will make our way down (easier than going up!) the Kokoda Steps which is a tribute to fallen Australian soldiers in Papua New Guinea in 1942. We head back to the City crossing the Kwinana Freeway footbridge and down King Street where the designer brand stores are located.
This 6km tour is the amazing opportunity to run, admire some iconic new and old Perth landmarks and get some local tips for your time in our beautiful city.
