Description
The running tour starts at Matosinhos Beach and runners will experience many small beaches alongside the coast.
We will cross the Castelo do Queijo , that according to the legends was initially a place of worship of the Celtic people and was later rebuilt as a small fort on the sea that served as defense of the city. The running tour also passes Castelo da Foz, which is a small castle, that served as a garrison at the entrance to the Douro river. This garrison was the first sign in Porto against the Napoleonic invasions pass the mouth of Douro river.
Running along we enjoy the view of Gaia with its many Port wine cellars and varied elavation. Next up, Runners can see the old Trams still in use and we’ll pass by the Museu do Carro Electrico www.museudocarroelctrico.pt) just before we end at Ribeira where the history of Porto begins. This tour is great for runners who would like to get a more uninterrupted run, while enjoying stunning views and breathing in fresh sea air.
