PORTO BEACH RUN TOUR - 9K
Runner on the ground - FRANCISCO
The running tour starts at Praia de Matosinhos and runners will experience many small beaches along the coast.
We will cross the Castelo do Queijo, which according to legend was initially a place of worship for the Celtic people and was later rebuilt as a small fort by the sea that served as a defense for the city. The running tour also passes through Castelo da Foz, which is a small castle that served as a garrison at the entrance to the Douro River. This garrison was the first sign in Porto against the Napoleonic invasions at the mouth of the Douro River.
Running along, we enjoy the view of Gaia with its numerous port wine cellars and varied elevation. Afterwards, runners will be able to see the old trams still in use and we will pass by the Electric Car Museum (www.museudocarroelctrico.pt) shortly before ending up in Ribeira where the history of Porto begins. This tour is great for runners who want a more non-stop run while enjoying breathtaking views and breathing in the fresh sea air.
