What a great way to see the beauty and diversity of Sydney City and surrounds by joining me on a guided half marathon run! A mixture of new and old, cultural and edgy, we will run through the city and outskirts, through the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kings Cross, Rushcutters Bay, Hyde Park, Barangaroo and The Rocks.

After a brief meet and greet we will make our way down to the bustling Circular Quay Ferry Terminal and onto the Sydney Opera House with fantastic views to The Harbour Bridge. We then cut our way into the Royal Botanical Gardens and immerse ourselves in it’s natural beauty. Back out to the waterfront around Mrs Maquarie’s Chair, past The Art Gallery of NSW and down to the old wharf area of Wooloomooloo. Then, who doesn’t love stairs, up we go and into the back lanes of Kings Cross. Originally known as the centre for music and theatre, it transformed to Sydney’s night entertainment district after World War II due to its close proximity to the naval base, the embarkment point of many return and visiting sailors.

Through the main street and past the famous El Alamein fountain and under the iconic Coca Cola neon billboard, we head east and pick up the harbour foreshore path. This takes us through Rushcutters Bay with an assortment of million dollar boats and where the yearly Sydney to Hobart yacht race commences. We then return to the city centre to Hyde Park, a natural beathing space in the midst of apartment and commercial buildings. From here we head west and into Darling Harbour, a lively tourist area with waterfront restaurants and shops.

We will run a loop and cross back over the heritage listed Pyrmont Bridge to the city side and continue on through Barangaroo, the newly developed docklands which was a significant hunting, fishing and shell collecting area for the aboriginal people. This takes us around the base of the southern structure of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and into The Rocks, the historic hub of the city. This area was the main port for trade and immigration and the unique landscape was etched out by ex-convicts and free settlers where dwellings were constructed in a seemingly haphazard way. This is now a lively tourist area with many unique historic pubs and buildings and frequent markets. Runners can be guided to some great drinking holes, shops and eateries or return a short distance to our meeting point. Reward yourself after a nice run through some of the best areas of our beautiful city!

I loved my half marathon run with Jamie. He planned out a perfect course to hit some sightseeing stops that I hadn’t had time to see on the rest of my trip. I got lots of fun pictures and had a blast chatting with him and learning about the area. I’d 100% book a Go Running Tour again after such stellar experiences running with him and exploring the area this way
