Today’s hotel loyalty is built through lifestyle services

Hotels have spent years building loyalty through points, upgrades and member benefits. But for many modern travellers, hotel preference is based on how they support guests’ existing lifestyles.

And hotels can win big by focusing on guest lifestyle. Let’s take running as an example. You know them from when they fill your hotel during the weekend when your local marathon is on 😉.

There are 600+ million runners in the world, which is almost double the US population and larger than the entire EU. They are frequent travellers and have a high disposable income, and their biggest headache when travelling is maintaining their training. Where is safe to run? What’s a good route? Will I be back on time for my meeting?

Hotels can solve these guest problems and build an instant competitive advantage by catering specifically to runners. And it is not expensive or time-consuming. In fact, it is very simple:

  • Running route maps (Super easy to implement)
  • Guided social runs with local guides (Very easy to implement)
  • In-person guided private running tours (Still easy to implement)
  • Include morning running and brisk walking as part of your group/conference offer (semi-easy to implement as it requires a 15-minute briefing of the sales team)

If faced with two “identical” hotels to choose from, guests will choose the hotel that “gets” their passion for running and enables them to train. Preference and loyalty achieved ✅

We’ll be happy to explore how your hotel can cater for runners. Get in touch!
