Bergen is one of those cities where running quickly turns into an adventure.

Date: 4-6 September 2026

This is not your typical running race.

The Great Fjord Run, is all about steep climbs and serious leg work. This is because of the connection with the famous Stoltzekleiven staircase. The staircase itself includes more than 700 stone steps leading up Mount Fløyen.

It is short, intense, and extremely popular with locals.

Do not expect a personal best here. Expect burning legs, heavy breathing, and incredible views over Bergen instead.

Running in Bergen while traveling

Running in Bergen feels wild in the best possible way.

Always close to mountains, water, steep climbs, or quiet neighborhoods filled with wooden houses and history. Even an easy morning run can quickly turn into a memorable experience.

If you want to explore the city with a local, our Bergen running guides would love to show you around.

One of our favorite routes is the Old Bergen Tour 12K. This route combines waterfront paths, historic areas, and quieter local neighborhoods while giving runners a chance to experience a different side of the city beyond the tourist areas.
