GREEN AND BLUE TRAIL – 16K

Runner on the ground - FRANCOIS
Leaving downtown Geneva we soon enter the forest situated at the foot of the cliffs. The trail goes along the bank of the Rhône, mainly on soft ground. In close contact with wilderness by winding paths and stairs, we will reach the Lignon district (one of the most particular suburbs of Geneva, built in the ’70s and lost in the nature). Switching from one bank to the other by an overpass, we will run back via the countryside until we find ourselves back in bustling Geneva.
On our way, we run past a couple of abandoned industrial buildings and come across a small rural village with a fountain. On the first half of the run, we will be on our own, as the trail is strictly pedestrian and upon our return it will be slightly more busy!
The ascent is about 200 meters total and a couple of steep (but short) climbs and stairs. For early morning and evening run, a headlamp is necessary. We provide one if you don’t have one yourself.

We had an amazing time running this stunning trail with Francois! It is varied, interesting and challenging terrain, featuring undulating woodland and part-made tracks with fun climbs and descents, hugging the banks of the crystal-blue Rhone river. We saw incredibly colourful wildflower meadows, surprising hidden buildings and architecture including an immense multi-arched bridge, a cool river-crossing over a low-slung footbridge, and even the iconic Swiss-chocolate making cows complete with traditional bells! As a regular 10k runner I was challenged, surprised and delighted by this fantastic trail. Plus Francois is a patient, knowledgeable and superb guide. My highlight of Geneva. Go enjoy!
