ROME TIBER RUN - 21K
Runner on the ground - PATRIZIO
Running along the Tiber River in Rome is a great way to go for a run and see the city without dealing with traffic and intersections. We’ll start our half-marathon from Trastevere Station, an easy point to reach, and we’ll go down the river around Ponte Testaccio.
A flat cycling and running path, on the West Bank of the river, will bring us through the heart of the most visited sections of the city, but below the roads. It’s a quiet and peaceful way to enjoy a run and enjoy the city. You’ll glimpse the Tiber Island, the Basilica of Saint John of the Florentines, the Saint Peter’s Basilica, Castel Sant’Angelo and pass under some of the most beautiful bridges of the city, like Ponte Cestio, Ponte Sisto, Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II and Ponte Umberto I.
Then, we’ll run up to Ponte Milvio, which was an economically and strategically important bridge in the era of the Roman Empire and was the site of the famous Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 AD, which led to the imperial rule of Constantine. According to Christian chroniclers, the battle marked the beginning of Constantine’s conversion to Christianity. From there, we’ll go back to the Trastevere Station.
