Welcome to “The Metro City Circle Line and the Largest Garden in Copenhagen.”

Today, we’ll explore Copenhagen by following the route of the modern City Circle Metro Line, which opened in 2019 and has fundamentally changed how people move around the city. This fully automated, driverless metro connects some of Copenhagen’s most vibrant neighbourhoods, making it easier than ever for locals to live, work, and explore across the city.

On this tour, we’ll move through five of Copenhagen’s boroughs: Vesterbro, Frederiksberg, Nørrebro, Østerbro, and the historic city center. Each area has its own identity, atmosphere, and history, and together they give us a unique insight into what makes Copenhagen one of the world’s most liveable cities.

What makes this journey special is not just the places we visit, but the way they are connected. The metro line acts as a modern backbone, linking everyday life with centuries of history — from working-class neighbourhoods and royal palaces to green parks and bustling city squares.

We begin at Enghave Plads in Vesterbro, a lively neighbourhood square that reflects everyday local life. From there, we move into the royal landscape of Frederiksberg Palace and Gardens, where history and nature blend seamlessly. Continuing into Nørrebro, we experience one of the city’s most diverse and dynamic areas, before crossing into Østerbro and the open space of Fælledparken, Copenhagen’s shared urban playground.

As we continue, we enter the historic heart of the city, where the Marble Church and Amalienborg Palace showcase royal power and architectural elegance. At Kongens Nytorv, we see how culture, commerce, and city life meet, before ending near Christiansborg and Gammel Strand, where Danish democracy and medieval trade history intersect.

Along the way, we might also touch on broader themes that define Copenhagen today:
its history, bike culture, gastronomy, high taxes, and its reputation as one of the world’s happiest cities — and what it’s actually like to live here.

This tour is ultimately about connection — not just through infrastructure, but through people, places, and everyday life.

It shows how a modern metro line links the past, present, and future of Copenhagen — all within a single journey through the city
