Gasparilla Distance Classic

Date: 21 – 22 February 2026
AARRRG you ready to run Gasparilla?
The Gasparilla Distance Classic stands as the must-run event for visitors spending only one day in Tampa. This running race serves as both a local tradition and a race which attracts residents and visitors from Tampa.
The weekend includes four race options:
5K and 15K on Saturday
8K and Half Marathon on Sunday
The starting point for all races runs along Bayshore Boulevard which provides scenic views of the water.
The entire city dedicates itself to the pirate legend José Gaspar when the event takes place. The course participants display pirate headgear together with colorful striped socks and some choose complete pirate costumes. Participants who bring plastic swords to the event manage to reach the finish line.
The event draws more than 20,000 runners which creates a lively environment without reaching overwhelming numbers. Want a commemorative pirate jacket? The reward of multiple race finishes will help you get one which many repeat participants cherish as a treasured item.
Skyway 10k
Date: 6 April 2025
Since its inception the Skyway 10K has established itself as a must-run event for Tampa Bay runners. During the course, runners span the famous Skyway Bridge to experience downtown St. Pete and the Gulf Coast from breathtaking heights.
The bridge served as the site for its first organized race since 1987 when it reopened after a seven-year closure following a collapse.
Runners who participate in this running race can see remnants of the previous structure while they run. Runners experience a demanding but satisfying course that leads to music entertainment and food choices along with drinking options at the end.
St. Pete Run Fest
Date: 14 – 16 November 2025
The major running race weekend of St. Pete features runs for children up to half marathon distances.
The race starts at the Dali Museum before runners experience the waterfront views and traverse multiple St. Pete neighborhoods.
3 Daughters Brewing provides local food and live music to welcome finishers at the event. This event has quickly turned into a cherished event for residents of the area.

Richard’s Run for Life
Smaller running races give participants a more hometown feel. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite local running races below.

Date: 3 November 2025
The 5K race of Richard’s Run for Life travels through Ybor City’s historic district to raise funds for Moffitt Cancer Center. The flat running course allows participants from beginners to experienced runners to participate together.
The race exists because of the Gozmart family and it finishes with delicious local food while creating energetic post-race celebrations.
Roar Through Ybor for Sight
Date: 1 April 2025
At Centennial Park the annual race expands its event offerings to include both a 5K distance and a 1-mile fun run event. All money collected at the event goes toward funding organ, eye and tissue transplant services at the Lions Eye Institute.
The event route leads runners through one of Tampa’s oldest districts before ending with musical entertainment and dining options within Ybor’s central area.
Bolt Run
Date: 2 November 2025
Start Time: 7:30 am
Every year the Bolt Run brings in more than 2,000 runners who help support both the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and March of Dimes. The course deviates from Bayshore Boulevard since this race takes participants through the heart of downtown Tampa.
The highlight? The final destination stands within the walls of Amalie Arena which serves as the home stadium for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Runners get to experience an entertaining after-party that creates a special atmosphere regardless of their interest in hockey.
Long Haul 100
Date: 17 – 18 January 2026
The Long Haul 100 proves that Tampa Bay provides an environment suitable for ultra running beyond people’s initial expectations. The trail running event takes place just thirty minutes outside Tampa city boundaries to provide runners with both solitude and picturesque Florida natural landscapes.
