Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon

Date: 23 August 2025

The event occurs during Iceland’s Cultural Day so participants can experience the unique energy of this special day. The race path runs along mostly flat ground and gentle inclines through the beautiful streets of the city. The event offers four running distances including marathon, half marathon, 10K and fun run. Every runner feels welcome because they run through crowds of supportive people in an energetic environment.

Suzuki Midnight Sun Run

Date: 19 June 2025

Taking part in this race will provide you with an experience you will never forget. The Suzuki Midnight Sun Run occurs at the summer solstice when the sun remains visible in the sky. Runners experience soft evening illumination throughout their run that extends past midnight. The trail runs through peaceful residential areas and the popular Elliðaárdalur Valley neighborhood. After finishing your run you should treat yourself to a visit to Laugardalslaug which is Reykjavik’s geothermal outdoor pool with hot tubs and steam baths available.

Northern Lights Run

Date: 7 February 2026

The Northern Lights Fun Run stands as the main attraction during the Reykjavík Winter Lights Festival. The 5K run begins and concludes at the Reykjavik Art Museum while emphasizing enjoyment and light and social bonding among participants. Every participant gets their own illuminating merchandise which transforms them into a radiant element of the show throughout the entire event. The route features energetic music and LED hula hoop performers and dancers who use illuminated costumes and props to entertain participants. The experience reaches its peak when Harpa concert hall in Reykjavik displays its dazzling light show while participants finish the run.

The Puffin Run

Date: 3 May 2025

The Puffin Run takes place on Heimaey which is part of the Westman Islands. At 20 kilometers, it’s Iceland’s biggest off-road running event and a real treat for nature lovers. Runners who participate will experience stunning coastal scenery together with potential puffin sightings. The combination of natural landscapes and Icelandic wildlife with the local welcome creates a perfect experience for participants.
