Running is one of our passions here in Porto. And joining us on a running tour of the city is not only fun, but also great exercise.
DISCOVER PORTO ON A RUNNING TOUR
When you think of Porto and our streets you might start picturing the steep hills and endless stairs that are hard to run but I can ensure you that it is just a myth.
The truth is that the city is not flat, like Paris or Copenhagen, but that is the beauty of Porto – every hill we face or every step we take up the historic stairs, rewards us with breathtaking views after we reached the top!
Our running tours were designed thinking of all the unique characteristics of Porto. For that reason, each and every tour combines both running and climbing. Some include the pleasant views of the Douro River along the way such as the City Wake Up Run, while for example the Across the River Run includes the company of the peacocks at the Palacio de Cristal Gardens. But let’s not forget about the so admired Sao Ben to Railway Station where the beautiful azulejo tiles are the best excuse to stop and catch your breath. And at last, from Ribeira, the heart of Porto and where the city was born, we can admire the double – deck metal arch bridge called Ponte Dom Luis and the famous Port Wine Cellars located on the other side of the river as we run the Porto Beach Run. And then of course there is the romantic and very historic old town which you can enjoy on our Old Town Run.
In 2014 and again 2017, Porto has been awarded the Best European Destination! This award has brought a lot attention and popularity to the city and with it the responsibility from all of us who provide a service to impress our guests and promote the best Porto can offer. Should you decide to visit us, you can be certain that the locals are great hosts and will make you feel at ease.
Recently The Guardian wrote an article that describes what running in Porto is, the joy of discovering something for the first time that you will not forget.
So far, we have had the pleasure to welcome guests from different countries in Europe and also from America. Experienced runners, beginners or joggers, the tours always begin the same way – with the reassurance that the tour is like running with a friend who has the knowledge of the city, is happy to answer any questions, stop as many times as you wish to catch your breath or simply to take a picture. At Go Running Tours Porto, we see the running tour as an opportunity to promote and make you discover our city, culture and meet new people along the way. We say, book a running tour with us and you will feel like a local runner!
Hope to see you and happy running,
