If you’re planning to lace up while in town, Geneva hosts several running races throughout the year that let you experience the city’s charm from a runner’s perspective. One of the most popular is the Generali Genève Marathon, an event that brings runners from all over the world to race through the city’s most iconic landmarks and stunning lakeside views.
This running race is considered one of the most beautiful marathons in Europe and also one of the fastest. In 2026, the event will take place on 9 and 10 May, bringing together runners of all levels for a true running festival.
Participants in the longer distances, including the Marathon, the Marathon Relais by Core Lean, the Half Marathon, and the Half Wheelchair, will follow a magnificent route that combines countryside and city views. Those joining the shorter distances, such as the 10 km for runners, the 10 km Walking and Nordic Walking, the 5 km by Always, and the junior races, will enjoy a more accessible course that is equally scenic.
The 2026 edition marks the 19th Generali Genève Marathon, continuing its legacy as one of Europe’s most celebrated running events.
