What’s better than a beautiful 5k run along Tampa’s most recent Riverwalk extension and around the best sights of the city? Nothing! Unless it’s the same run, but ending with a tasty craft brew (or coffee, for you early birds) to refuel with in Tampa’s up and coming Heights District!
Join us, just steps away from the heart of downtown in Tampa’s must-see Heights District, where we will meet up at the brewery and take off from there. We’ll pass by some of the coolest and newest murals in the city while we take in this new and trendy neighborhood in Tampa. You’ll feel like a local while running through this part of town where new restaurants and businesses are popping up, but it still maintains that local feel to it. It won’t take us too long to hit the Riverwalk where we will pass by Water Works Park and Armature Works as we run along one of the most beautiful stretches along the water. And don’t worry- we can stop for plenty of photos!
We’ll follow the Hillsborough River down to the stunning Curtis Hixon park where we’ll get some great views of the University of Tampa and the downtown skyline. With so much to see in every direction, you won’t even feel like you’re running!
As we leave the beautiful water views behind, we will make our way right through the middle of Curtis Hixon Park into downtown. The views of the Hillsborough River and the University of Tampa are even better from this vantage point as we make our way towards the skyline. As we pass by many of Tampa’s most popular sights, you’ll be amazed at how much you can see on a 5k tour of the city. Old City Hall’s layer-cake design building makes for a great photo opportunity, but the Sacred Heart Church and Tampa Theatre are equally impressive and only moments away on foot. We will even swing by the old Floridan Hotel; a place where John F. Kennedy was allegedly to be assassinated outside of a mere 4 days before his untimely death.
As the tour winds down and the beer gets closer, we will head back towards the water briefly to grab some photos by the famous “City of Tampa Postcard” mural. If you’re not sure what this is, you’ll know it the minute that you see it as it’s a must-see downtown and not always the easiest to find. A few more blocks and we will have you back to the brewery for your free draft brew! Come see way more than most visitors see in Tampa in less than an hour
